Membership
Whether you are a longtime member, new to the area, or searching for a Jewish community, there is a place for you at Temple Beth El.
Why join
You do not need to be a member to come to a Friday night service. Come as often as you like. But membership is what makes the rest of it possible — the rabbi who visits you in the hospital, the school your grandchildren attend, the sanctuary that is standing and air-conditioned in September.
Members receive High Holy Day seating, religious school and B’nai Mitzvah preparation for their children, clergy support through lifecycle events, use of the building for family simchas, and a vote in the congregation’s governance. Mostly, though, membership means there is a community that notices when you are not there.
How it works
- Visit. Come to an Erev Shabbat service on a Friday at 7:30pm, or to Torah study on Saturday morning. No one will ask you for anything.
- Talk with us. Meet with Rabbi Luna or the office to ask whatever you want to ask about the congregation.
- Choose a commitment. Review the current year’s membership options with the office and choose what fits your household and your circumstances.
- Join. Complete the membership form, and you are part of this.
No one is turned away for financial reasons. If the standard commitment is not workable for your household, say so. That conversation is confidential, it happens all the time, and it will not change how you are treated here.

Who belongs here
Single people, couples, families with young children, empty nesters, snowbirds, interfaith households, Jews by choice, people who are just starting to explore, and people who have been doing this for eighty years.
We are a modern, inclusive religious community. That is not a slogan on a website; it is who is actually in the room on Friday night.
Get Involved
Membership is a start. What makes a congregation is the people who show up to do the work.
Committees
Ritual, membership, education, social action, house and grounds, finance, and more. Committees meet regularly and welcome new voices.
Temple Groups
Sisterhood, Brotherhood, Mah Jongg, book club, and the social groups that run much of the temple’s calendar.
Choir
Our choir rehearses weekly and sings for Shabbat and the High Holy Days. Reading music helps; enthusiasm helps more.
Caring Community
Visit members who are ill, drive someone to a service, make a call, deliver a meal. Small things, done reliably.
Ushers & Greeters
Be the person who makes a stranger feel expected. Especially needed for the High Holy Days.
Congregational Garden
Our garden is tended by volunteers, and the produce goes where it is needed. Bring gloves.
