The most valuable gift you can make to our synagogue is to our General Fund. Those dollars are used for the general operation of our synagogue: they keep the lights on, the staff paid, and cover many necessities that may not be glamorous but are essential to our operations. It allows the synagogue to use those funds where they are most needed.

Whether you are celebrating or honoring an aliyah, a Shabbat honor, a birthday, anniversary, birth, graduation, award, or achievement, Temple Beth El welcomes your donation. Memorial donations — remembering a loved one, or marking the moment when someone passes away — are another way to honor and remember. We also have special funds where your giving is dedicated to a particular use.

No gift is too small or too large, and every dollar makes it possible to continue and expand synagogue activities. Our culture is tikkun olam: repairing the world, teaching our children, promoting community, and comforting those in need.

Our Funds

We have many funds you may choose from to support Temple Beth El. Each one is dedicated to a particular part of our congregation’s life.

  • General Fund The general operation of the synagogue — used wherever the need is greatest.
  • Rabbi’s Discretionary Fund Enables the Rabbi to help congregants and neighbors in need, quietly and immediately.
  • Religious School Programming Fund Curriculum, materials, and the celebrations that make our students want to come back.
  • Music Fund Supports the music of our worship, our Cantor, and the choir.
  • Oneg Fund The refreshments and hospitality that follow Friday night services.
  • Esther & Samuel Doctor Memorial Security Fund Keeps our building, our staff, and our worshippers safe.
  • Carol and Peter Kaplan Scholar in Residence Fund Brings visiting scholars and teachers to our congregation.
  • Congregational Community Garden Supports our garden, tended by volunteers, with produce going where it is needed.
  • Cemetery Fund Maintains our cemetery grounds and the care of those resting there.

The High Holy Day Appeal

Your High Holy Day Appeal contribution will enable us to continue to strengthen our congregation and the Jewish people. Let us move forward together. Together we can make a difference.

Dues do not cover everything. The annual appeal funds what no one is billed for: assistance for members in financial hardship, complimentary seating for guests, our music, and the ordinary upkeep of a building in Southwest Florida.

L’Shana Tova to you and all of those you love.

Dedications & Tributes

Names that stay in the building, and gifts that mark an occasion.

Buy a Paver

An engraved paver in the temple walkway, inscribed with your family name, a dedication, or a memory.

Buy a Leaf

A leaf on the Tree of Life, engraved to mark a simcha — a birth, a B’nai Mitzvah, a wedding, an anniversary, a graduation.

Memorial Plaque

A permanent bronze plaque for a loved one. The name is illuminated on the yahrzeit each year and read from the bimah.

Garden of Memories

Our memorial wall in the garden, where families remember those they have lost in a place made for sitting and thinking.

Sponsor an Oneg

Sponsor the refreshments after a Friday night service for a birthday, an anniversary, or a yahrzeit. You will be recognized from the bimah that evening.

Oneg Honoree Program

Underwrite onegs across the whole year rather than a single evening, keeping the tables set every Friday night.

Legacy Giving — The King David Society

The King David Society honors members who have included Temple Beth El in their estate plans, through a bequest, a retirement account or life insurance beneficiary designation, or a charitable trust.

A legacy gift costs nothing today and secures this congregation for the generation that comes after us. Conversations are confidential and carry no obligation.
